My Mom's birthday!
I know, I just have posted birthday blog not too long ago. Bare with me this one is the last one for a pretty long time. I love being there and celebrating the birthdays of those who are the closest to me. I really do but, it cost a lot. Not just only to my piggy bank but, also towards my health. For example, this year my mom and granny decided to throw both of their birthday party back to back in the same weekend. Sounds fun huh? Well, not for the person who is the daughter and granddaughter of the birthday girls. I have to drive 3-4 hrs from Long Island through NYC to New Jersey and back. Repeat this two times back to back. Oh yea, while I'm in New York city I have to pick up the cakes. Sound like a simple task. But, my brother can't find a single parking spot in the NYC of course so, I have to rush in get the cake and leave. Meanwhile my brother circle around the blocks a few times until I called him to get me. Did not like that idea in the first place because I know there would be a long line and he will keep calling me on the cell to hurry up. However, the major problem doesn't lies there. It was one of the ladies who work in the Chinese bakery shops giving me a hard time. I waited on line until it was my turn, politely told her I was there to pick up the cakes that I had order yesterday. And asked her to give me specific so and so amount of candles in certain size (because the thicker ones rep. 10 years and the slimmer one rep. one year Oh yea, for those of you who don't buy cakes in the city from Chinese bakery shops they cover the candle cost but you have to remember to ask). Out of no where she gives me an attitude like I had given her too much work. Then, she randomly grab a bunch of candles mix with big and small ones into the bag. Instead of listen to my request she in purposely mess with me. I took a look at the what she have given me and repeated the same request hoping she will cooperate. But, no she said "who care I don't so, take it leave". I got so fed up with her rude attitude I took out the candles from the bag counted them out loud one by one. Given her back all the small one and demand how many big ones are still missing. Didn't yell but, she can tell I was serious and fed up with her attitude. She can raise her voice all she wants but, I was not leaving until I got what I had pay for. Usually I'm really nice but, some people really knows how to push my button.
This a picture of my family plus everyone else in my mom side of the family. Sorry, that it's missing the left side of the photo. My uncle the one in strip shirt insist to help everyone set up the automatic flash button on the camera. I guess when he put it down he did not check the view where it was pointing. Maybe, my cousin have a better picture and I can ask them for a copy.
By the way, I'm the one in the red shirt sitting next to the birthday girl. :)
My mom cutting the cake. I know, this picture looks some what weird because she suppose to blow the candle first then cut the cake. But, my mom wants to take a picture with her cutting the cake while the candles was still there. Don't worry, after we had taken this shot she had blow the candles then cut up the whole cake.
Oh, yeah I had pick the chocolate mouse cake. It's the one on the left. Everyone loved it including the dog. Personally, I would not feed my dog human food but my Granny spoil them.
Next week on the actual day of my mom's birthday we took her out to dinner with just our little family. But, before we went out I surprise her with a birthday song that I had played on the guitar. She loved it and both of my parent were surprised I can even played that well. The birthday song was the first song I had learned on the guitar. After figuring out each note one by one where it go on the fretboard how to position my my right hand and memorize it all with the right tempo...I think it's all worth it. Able to give her that smile and joy on her face is priceless.
